Introduction

This spring, my wife did a 4-month travel nursing assignment in Washington state. During that time, we got to explore the state and take some photos. Here are some of my favorites.

Mt. Rainier from afar

Des Moines Beach

On one sunny day, I drove to the beach in Des Moines and took some photos of the Olympics.

Rattlesnake Lake Dinos

Some lizard/dinosaur-looking creatures I found at Rattlesnake Lake.

Mt. Rainier National Park

We ran into some Canada Jays at Mt. Rainier National Park. Also known as Camp Robbers, these birds are known for stealing food from campers. They are very friendly and will come right up to you. They’re in the Corvidae family, which includes crows, ravens, magpies, and blue jays.

Seattle Skyline

I took a timelapse of the Seattle skyline from Rockaway Beach Park on Bainbridge Island. In the video is a little guy fishing.

If you pay attention the the bottom of the rocks at the beginning of the video and compare it to the end, you can see how the tide changes.

Quinault National Fish Hatchery

On our way to Olympic National Park, we stopped at the Quinault National Fish Hatchery. It was a nice place to stop and stretch our legs. The workers at the hatchery were very friendly and gave us a tour of the facility, and even let us feed the fish. They explained how they raise fish to help restore local populations of several species of salmon.

Goodbye, Seattle

This is a video of the Seattle skyline, seen as we were leaving the city on the ferry.

We enjoyed our time in Washington state and look forward to visiting again in the future!
